The Annual Christmas Tears

December 25, 2009 at 5:14 am (Uncategorized)

I’m exhausted, but I wanted to post quickly to say Merry Christmas and to proclaim to the world that the flood gates have broken…twice! I love Christmas…I love watching kids’ eyes light up as they gaze at the tree and their presents in awe. I love a cold glass of egg nog by the fire. I love all of the good food, company, and the games. I seem to have added a new annual ritual to our list of traditions in our home – tears.

I’m thinking of all my friends who are in waiting and wishing the best of news to you all early in 2010!

Have a safe and happy Christmas and a wonderful New Year!

Govt of Sask

December 10, 2009 at 4:05 am (Uncategorized)

Brendan and I got home from work at the same time. I went through the caller ID to see who had called today. “Government of Sask” I read aloud. “No, Mary…it’s not” the rational voice of my husband piped in (for those of you who don’t know, this is the awaited ID on every PAP’s phone in Sk.) “I know, but why is he calling?” I replied trying to keep my heart rate down. “It’s not Mary”. “I know” I said as I began listening to the messages. Unfortunately, despite my words, I still had a little hope. Of course it was another pointless phone call from our social worker. I emailed him tonight and was very tempted to say, “If you have any heart at all, you will not dial my number again until there is news of a referral!” My hopes weren’t too crushed since I surprisingly do still have half a foot down here on earth. I also see that stupid ID on a very regular basis at work and do not associate it with very nice feelings there. 😦

That’s my excitement for the month. I was away for a week at a conference and missed my boys (and bed and shower) tremendously, my kids (work kids) all seem to be in crisis so I am losing it there, I have not even thought about Christmas shopping or baking yet, and I am relieved to get a break from school for the rest of the month.

Ready for some good news from great friends about their very stressful adoptions. That will make my month!!!
